<p>25 years ago, Frank Bretschneider (aka Komet) and Olaf Bender (aka Byetone) founded rastermusic, an independent label for electronic music, which joined forces with Carsten Nicolai's (aka Alva Noto) noton.archiv f&uuml;r ton und nichtton editions. The two entities merged to give birth to raster-noton: a name that, for a whole generation, rings out like a manifesto praising the unique strength of an experimental and minimalist aesthetic. Now independent again, the raster label headed by Bender continues its path, cultivating its sonic and visual identity in the protean landscape of electronic cultures.
