The label rastermusic was founded by Olaf Bender, Frank Bretschneider and Michael Kummer in Chemnitz in 1995 with the aim of releasing groundbreaking electronic music. It was renamed raster-noton in 1999 (in connection with the release of the »20 minutes to 2000« series) and has been managed as a one-man company by Olaf Bender (aka Byetone) since 2002. In 2017, raster-noton was renamed raster-media.
Raster-media sees itself as an independent »artistic platform« and would not be imaginable without the diverse engagement of its associated artists. In addition to music from well-known and emerging artists, raster-media also releases books, data carriers, graphics and installation works.
